TERRIBLE DEFEAT OF HC METALURG
As it was expected, the young team of HC Metalurg suffered a terrible defeat on the match against the mighty THW Kiel. The defeat with 19 goals margin is just a repetition of our worst result in the Velux EHF Champions League against SG Flensburg-Handewitt (24:43) back in 2006.
We were terrible in the first half, but fought bravely in the second. At the beginning of the match, we stood up unexpectedly well against one of the best handball teams in the world. In the eighth minute, we had a draw 3:3, and then we did not manage to score another goal until the end of the first half. THW Kiel used this and with a series of 14:0 finished this half of the match with a result 17:3. Unfortunately, Lino Cervar’s fears came true, our young players got scared of the name of our opponent and the overcrowded Sparkassen-Arena.
HC Metalurg played well in the second half. We lost this period of the game with a result 13:18, but it was more important that our players finally overcame their fears and played more boldly.
The best scorers in our team were Taleski and Buvinic with four goals, respectively.
